General Overview

Zinc Orange Glow Paint is a durable, long lasting, solvent-based acrylic phosphorescent paint which glows a deep orange.

Brightness and Duration

Zinc Orange Glow Paint's strength is in its deep, pure color, not its brightness or duration, both of which are limited.  It will glow for about an hour from a full charge.

Medium Compatibility

Zinc glow in the dark pigments are fairly stable and can exist in almost any medium.  They are slightly soluble in water, but this does not appear to make a noticeable difference in most applications.  This makes them a great choice for use in mediums that contain water or acid.

Other color pigments in the medium will sometimes shield the glow pigments preventing them from charging as fast or glowing as bright.  Therefore, we suggest clear mediums when possible.

Ultraviolet filters in mediums may block the ability for glow pigments to charge.  This can both increase charge time or lower brightness depending on the quantity and quality of the ultraviolet filters.  Most paint manufacturers will have special order product SKUs for non-ultraviolet filter versions of their paint.

Warning:  Many customers try to create a "cheap glow in the dark paint" by purchasing clear paint from a local source and the raw glow in the dark pigment from Glow Inc.  The majority of these customers end up frustrated.  If you need a paint, then we suggest that you either purchase our premixed paints or follow the instructions in our how-to articles for specific projects.

Zinc Orange Glow Paint glows a deep orange color.  In a lit room, it is light orange.

The Zinc line of products are relatively opaque in a lit room.

Smell

As a raw pigment, the Zinc Orange has a strong sulfur smell.  In this paint form, the smell is masked into the medium and is almost unnoticeable.

Paint Properties

Glow Inc.'s brand of glow in the dark paint is a custom formula designed to maximize brightness in a durable all-purpose paint.  The engineers included a suspension system that supports the relative dense glow in the dark particles.  It contains no fillers or impurities such as ultraviolet filters, which interfere with glow pigment.  As a solvent-based acrylic, it is extremely durable for indoor and outdoor use and has strong adhesion to almost all surfaces.  Drying time is between 10-15 minutes, but should be allowed to cure overnight.

Our paints are created by mixing the raw pigment (glow powder) with the custom designed paint in a ratio of 2 lbs of glow in the dark pigment to 1 gallon of paint.  This high ratio along with the high clarity medium results in the brightest glow in the dark paint sold on the planet.

Shipping

Solvent-based paints are considered a Flammable Material by the US Department of Transportation.  Therefore, there are strict guidelines for shipping that depend on quantity.

1.  Special packaging is required and will be added to your shipping total.

2.  We can not ship paint internationally without costly hazmat packaging and procedures.

3.  Quantities up to 1 fluid ounce can be be shipped via air or ground.

4.  Quantities between 1 fluid ounce and 1 quart must be sent via ground.

5.  Quantities above 1 quart must be sent via freight.

6.  Purchases of a gallon are sent as 4 separate quart packages.
